Celebrated since 1978, the Puerto Rican Peoples' Parade showcases Puerto Rican art, culture and music without the adulterated depictions which traditional ethnic parades undergo as a result of commercialization. The Puerto Rican People's Parade frames the Puerto Rican cultural experience within the language of social criticism and the discourse of possibilities. The People's Parade is held annually and coincides with the official Puerto Rican Day Parade in Chicago.
