Movies in the Park Series
Ends on Triumphant Note

Chicago-September 11, 2004 marked the end of what has become an annual event in Humboldt Park--the Paseo Boricua Film Series. In its second year, the Film series was a welcomed attraction to the completely restored Humboldt Park Boathouse. Beginning in June, the grassy area next to the Boathouse would be transformed into a community theatre of sorts, filling up with families setting up grills in preparation for the films about to be shown. As the sun set, over a hundred viewers anxiously awaited as the screen was illuminated with films that highlighted the Puerto Rican experience, history, and dynamic culture. Films like, La Guagua Area, Mi Puerto Rico, Linda Sara, La Caja Vacia, Urban Poet, and a variety of short films from young Puerto Rican filmmakers from Humboldt Park and Puerto Rico. The Humboldt Park Boathouse became a gallery for every film exhibiting the talents of Puerto Rican and Latino filmmakers.

This year's Paseo Boricua Film Festival was organized and sponsored by the Division Street Business Development Association (DSBDA), in partnership with the Chicago Park District, and the Institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture and was co-sponsored by Alderman Ocasio and the Puerto Rican Federal Affairs Administration.  Keep a look out for next years Paseo Boricua Film Series in mid-June!
