Sexual Health Educator (Mpowerment Project)
Reports to: L-Act Program Coordinator Program/Department: Vida/SIDA/L-Act Project
This position will work with the Project Coordinator in planning and implementing of the
Mpowerment EBI. This position will co-facilitate M-group sessions, oversee recruitment and
retention, coordinate the monitoring and evaluation of the intervention, as well as oversee data
collection and the maintenance of client’s records. This position will complete all intervention

Conducts ongoing community assessment of Latino young men who have sex with me (YMSM)
or experience same sex desire.
Provides HIV prevention information and referral services, via street and venue-based
outreach, to the Latino YMSM residing in the Greater Chicago area.
Facilitates the ongoing collection of client-level data while assisting the Program Coordinator
and Evaluator in the reporting of process and outcomes monitoring data, via various modes
Completes all documentation requirements and provides quality control of all data entry.
Maintains client confidentiality and complies with any and all Federal, State, and City
regulations as well as Vida/SIDA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security
and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
Supervises Peer Educators including:
o Training & scheduling outreach activities and assignments.
o Facilitating, updating, and evaluating meetings.
Responsible for overseeing the implementation of project activities.
Assists in the coordination of the consumer/community advisory board meetings.
Collaborates and supports agency community forums and events.
Attends CDC training and meetings, workshops, and seminars on HIV prevention.
Attends all local team meetings and retreats, including The Puerto Rican Cultural Center’s
monthly meetings and Vida/SIDA activities and meetings.
Performs other functions assigned by the Project Coordinator
This position requires compliance with all of PRCC’s written standards, including its Standards of
Conduct, all policies and procedures and Regulatory Compliance requirements. Compliance will
be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

OSHA Category 2 – Normal work practice involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but
exposure risk may occasionally be encountered in performance of assigned tasks.
Bilingual: verbal, reading, and writing (Spanish and English)
Bachelors/Masters degree in health, social science, or related field, and minimum of 2 years
experience (preferably with target population and/or community-based organization)
Current certification to provide HIV counseling and testing including rapid HIV testing.
