On Saturday September 25, Centro Sin Fronteras and the Puerto Rican Cultural Center were part of a coalition that sponsored a rally at the Federal Building downtown. Over 200 people marched from the North Side, from Adalberto United Methodist Church to join a rally at Union Park, located at Lake Street and Ashland Avenue, where another 200 people who had marched from the South Side, met them.

Together, carrying placards of support for the legalization of immigrant workers as well as huge puppets denouncing the atmosphere of intimidation and fright, they marched down Ashland Avenue to Jackson and from there, straight downtown to the Federal Building. Along the way, they were met with plenty of cars honking their horns in support as well as some individuals openly racist and jeerful of the march's goals.

Once downtown, the protesters marched straight into arms of the large crowd awaiting them. As the marchers walked into the Federal Building plaza, Congressman Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-4th) was finishing speaking and among other points, he spoke to the necessity, the importance of all Americans who contribute having a voice and enjoying the benefits of the US.
