About Fiesta Boricua
fiestaboricua@prcc-chgo.org
We are delighted to be part of the PRCC website, in no small part because Fiesta Boricua has become synonymous with Paseo Boricua and all that this street offers to our community. Fiesta Boricua celebrates the best of Puerto Rican talent and musical culture, just as Paseo Boricua makes visible a permanent corridor through the heart of Chicago’s Puerto Rican community. The annual Fiesta Boricua celebration showcases the diversity of Puerto Rican musical expression, from plena and bomba to Salsa and merengüe, from rock en Español to Latino rap, from the trova to Mapeye. Fiesta Boricua has featured legendary Puerto Rican musical figures, including Willie Colón, Pappo Lucca, Michael Stuart, Victor Manuelle, Jessica, Andy Montañez, Ismael Miranda, El Topo, Andrés Jiménez, la Sonora Ponceña, Larry Harlow, Roberto Roena, Roy Brown and Yomo Toro, among others. Besides the rich musical experience, Fiesta Boricua provides a day of total immersion into Puerto Rican culture - from food and artisanry, to art exhibits and children’s entertainment.

Last year - 2003 - marked the 10th Anniversary of the unforgettable Fiesta, which has become the largest one-day ethnic festival in the entire Midwest. As the coordinators of Fiesta Boricua, we are grateful to all who have made Fiesta Boricua a reality: the volunteers of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center and of the 26th Ward Democratic Organization, and the sponsors which continues their active promotion of Fiesta Boricua.
