As Lolita Lebrón, the national heroine of Puerto Rico entered Batey Urbano, a magical night unfolded. Over 65 people, largely sons and daughters of Boriken, witnessed an incredible exchange of historical memory between Batey Urbano's poets and Lolita Lebrón. Poets Amid Tirado, Matt Rodríguez, Melissa Cintrón, Michael Reyes, and Eduardo Arocho took the opportunity to share their poetic stanzas of resistance with Lolita, paying a humble tribute and homage to her. Mexican poet Michael Reyes remarkably captured the pain and suffering endured by Lolita and so many of the world's oppressed people through his moving poem, titled, "Lolita, You May Cry Now." After each of the Batey Poets were done performing, Lolita took center stage and began to read from her poetry book, “El Grito Primoroso”. Lolita's impassioned words filled Batey Urbano with a sense of history and purpose, revealing a love for Patria that surely intoxicated everyone present.
