Café Teatro Batey Urbano
at FIESTA BORICUA 2004

Between the two main stages of Fiesta Boricua, in front of Batey Urbano throughout the day, hundreds gathered to see a break dancing and dj exhibition. Batey Urbano brought out its speakers and took Fiesta Boricua back to hip-hop yesterdays. On top of a small mat, area break-dancers brought out all the tricks: fancy footwork, windmills, and flares. The dancers wowed the crowd as DJ's Ozone, Robbin, and Wreck held down the "wheels of steel." Batey Urbano's poets, emcees, and djs then traveled to the main stage at Artesian and Division to perform before thousands of proud Boricuas. Their message to their people while under the Paseo Boricua flag was clear: Puerto Ricans aren't leaving Humboldt Park, this is our home!
